James A. Scotti

James A. Scotti is the third recipient of the Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award. In the judgment of the Executive Committee, he meets or exceeds all criteria. The dedication he has shown in implementing CII best practices and his personal integrity make him an excellent recipient for this prestigious award.

Jim Scotti began his association with CII as a Board representative from Brown & Root in 1988. His service with a CII research team began the following year when he joined the Disputes Prevention and Resolution Task Force. He served on another research team, Reforming Supplier Relationships, from 1996-1999. And for more than a decade, from 1991-2002, he chaired the CII Construction Suppliers Council.

In 2002, a few years after the merger that created Kellogg Brown & Root, Jim moved to the Fluor Corporation, where his service to CII continued. Again, he served on the Board of Advisors, this time as Fluor’s member representative, but he took on added responsibilities as well. He joined the Membership Committee in 2002 and helped with the analysis of CII’s “world presence” in an effort to define the Institute’s role in globalization. That same year, he was elected to the CII Executive Committee.

Throughout his years with CII, Jim has never stopped his service to the Institute. In a letter nominating him for the Richard Tucker Leadership and Service Award, one CII member wrote of Jim, “Over the years he has participated in numerous committees and work teams including his current position on the Board of Advisors. Jim has been instrumental in not only helping capture breakthrough technology and best practices, but has lived the spirit of CII by integrating many of these practices into his companies’ work environments. Jim is highly respected by his CII peer group, participates to the max, and fully respects the values and mission of CII. If I were to identify a person who best represents the ideal for CII membership, Jim’s name would find its way to the top.”

CII takes great pride in selecting Jim Scotti as the recipient of the Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award. He “participates to the max,” and his integrity has influenced colleagues both inside and outside of CII. Congratulations to Jim Scotti on this momentous occasion.
