New CII Research Team

CII is proud to announce our new Research Team DCC-06, Updating Project Delivery and Contract Strategies (funded by the Downstream and Chemicals Sector Committee).

Project delivery and contract strategies (PDCS) define the overall project execution framework, the roles and responsibilities of project participants, and the owner’s compensation methods. PDCS selection is a fundamental decision that must be made in the early project development stage. CII’s Research Team 165 (RT-165) developed a tool to support the PDCS selection process in a structured and quantitative way and led to a PDCS selection by optimizing the owner’s project objectives.

Since the original publication and its subsequent update almost 20 years ago, new PDCS options and selection factors have emerged. They include Integrated Project Delivery (see CII research on this topic in the CII Knowledge Base), Alliancing, and Industrial Integrated Project Delivery (see RT-341’s page in the Knowledge Base).

This research aims to update the work of RT-165 in terms of selection strategies that are relevant to Downstream and Chemicals projects. RT-DCC-06’s new tool is expected to enhance PDCS decisions during early project development and help to identify more effective ways to deliver projects.
