Learn more about establishing targets for lifecycle performance and considering the Triple Bottom Line.
CII’s Facilities and Healthcare Sector (FHC) is currently focusing on two areas: Lifecycle Cost and Capital Efficiency. Since 2018, CII has been planning, designing, and building a first-of-its-kind Data Warehouse for the engineering and construction industry. CII will import members’ data through APIs into the Data Warehouse and tie the fresh inputs to data resident in various legacy systems, BIM packages, and construction management software.
The FHC challenged Research Team FHC-02 to leverage this data collection to establish targets for lifecycle performance in order to reduce facility operational cost. Understanding lifecycle cost is an important factor in long-term facility management, because the decisions made during the early design of a new facility or during the renovation of an existing facility can have long-reaching consequences.
The team is also considering the role of Triple Bottom Line accounting, which tries to elevate the total cost of ownership by deliberately calculating three bottom lines: Financial, Natural, and Human Capital Cost-Benefits. This presentation will share the team’s findings from two in-depth case studies.
